From Dreams to Screens…

Ever since he was old enough to balance a bulky 1990’s-style video camera, Austin Newman has delighted in the making of movies.  With an eye for detail and the ability to visualize a story was born a passion to write scripts and see them come to life in film.  Now, at the age of twenty, Newman is deep into all aspects of film production.  After attending his first year of college to pursue an unrelated major and simultaneously working on a film project, he decided that he would take a hiatus to work on another film project that was his third script out of many he has/had in the works.  The determination to complete what he started wouldn’t allow him to concentrate on anything else.

Newman is currently wearing many hats, with support from those in the community who know his ambition, determination and abilities.  From scriptwriter to acting, directing, producing and editing, he is learning all aspects in the industry.  He has registered some of his work with the Writers Guild of America and Independent Film Festival directors are already hearing his name and anticipating his next entry, knowing that he is perfecting his craft.

Even though Newman’s passion hasn’t turned a profit yet, he knows that determination and hard work comes first.  He has done promos and work for the local community and across South Carolina.  The results of learning classic as well as new applications such as the latest editing software will be evident as they evolve with each new project.  After working to acquire more production equipment and cameras, Newman has started Natural Wonders Productions and plans to continue not only producing creative promos, commercials, videos, documentaries and such for those who need them, but will be working full scale toward the production of independent feature films and shorts.

The director of the Greenwood Community Theatre,  says “Newman is a very valuable asset to our community”.  “We need to recognize this outstanding talent and passion for the arts in our community, and the pursuit of presenting these attributes to the community.”  It is in light of this passion that GCT debuted and highlighted Newman’s work.
